Before we plant any hemp seeds we need to prepare the soil.
To do this we could have sprayed the area off but we wanted to use more unconventional cultivation without sprays. So after some helpful advice from Shane from Puramahoi Fields, we decided to go across with a rotavator to turn over the turf and then we will leave it for three-ish weeks then go through with it again.
We have also had our soil-test results come back from Ravensdown and the results look better than we thought they would. The soil test looks at things like organic nitrogen, pH, potassium, and sodium levels. It's been recommended to apply more nitrogen and phosphate, so we're exploring how to do this in an organic way.
